Biography
My Mum got me a uke when I was knee high to her piano stool and I learnt to play ragtime with her. She said for me to learn to read music. I knew better. I still can't. Bummer.
I can make noises on varied instruments, all stringed. 5-String banjo was my favourite until I damaged my hand and lost the ability to double-thumb. Bang went 99% of the repertoire. Trying now to record what's left so the grandchildren can hear it. Why should I suffer alone?

Smiffy, you are the best! I really dig that you get the vibe I put out there with my original music. Thanks so much for taking the time to listen, and for the lovely review.

Smiffy, thanks for your support on my video attempt at "Bill Bailey"...please put your version up...so I can have something to strive for how it should be played. Verne

Been browsing your music... Again. Love it. You are a star in my universe. But... I don't see "Fiddler's Green (joke). Nice work. Also nice to find another fan of Koerner Ray. (Sugar Babe)

SMiffy, I really enjoyed reading your reviews and instantly called the Uelk half to let him know. there are two things great about song writing. One is getting a huge kick out of writing something that Im proud of and the second is hearing that someone else enjoys it. I asked that everyone who downloads our music pay the fee of letting us know who they are and what they think. After almost 90 downloads you are the first to do so. It means a lot. Thanks again

Smiffy, I just noticed some comments you made on 14 Feb that had gone unoticed...just happened to see them on the control panel section. The fact that you and your wife and grandchildren listen and approved of my ditties,is really rewarding to me. That you all enjoy them makes me proud enuf to carry on...I am glad I found ezFolk that enabled me to make your acquaintence and have a new friend. I too am a solid fan of all the different instruments and songs that you do...it amazes me; I should have played when younger; but to busy making a living I guess. Thanks for all those remarks. Verne

Smiffy, you put smile on my face! Great tracks. Anyone who likes Jake Thackery is a friend of mine. Your pics are interesting too, must remember to try out having a curry before snorkelling.....take care of those beautiful instruments and we look forward with anticipation as to what you'll record next! Best Regards TJ

Thank you for your kind words, Smiffy. I'm so glad to hear that you enjoyed my tunes. You have a great catalog of tunes that I'm working my way through happily. If you have garageband, perhaps I could send you the file for that dulcimer jam! Peace, badmule

Yeh, Smiffy, we are fortunate to have both of our ladies willing to put up with us for so long. Thanks be to God for that and all other blessings we have...I am happy to have a friend such as you who makes me feel good about my efforts with the banjo. Sounds to me like you have more experience with it than me..I must check you site more closely, for your banjo playing. Me too on the reason for playing for the Grandchildre. Tally-ho! Verne

Hi Smiffy! Thanks for the comment. I'm new to ez folk but feel right at home here. You have a lot of material. Have not heard them all but two songs in particular I enjoyed are "Taxes on the farmer" (I'm Iowa raised) and "Harvest Moon" Love the sound of the ukulele. I may pick one up someday.
