Members: Marty Parmer (Calhoun, Ga) is a good friend and solid guitar player. He provides lots of laughs as the better half of Byrum and Parmer.
Genre: Dulcimer
Influences: Many people have influenced the music I play and the music I listen to. Perhaps Lois Hornbostle and David Schnaufer were my earliest influence. Now there are so many great players from who I gladly watch and steal technique.

Biography
Biography

Multi-instrumentalist PAUL BYRUM specializes in performing Celtic, Bluegrass, Old-time Mountain Music and Gospel hymns. Paul enjoys playing the autoharp, bass fiddle, bass guitar, hammered dulcimer, and mountain dulcimer.

Paul was born and raised in the South (that is, born in South Vietnam but raised in Nashville, TN.) His interest in mountain music and bluegrass began 25 years ago during a college summer job at Opryland USA. Although it started out as just a hobby and pastime, Paul moved into competing at numerous festivals in the Southeast in 1998. He has competed in the Mountain Dulcimer National Championship, held in Winfield, Kansas, and, in 2004, was crowned Mid-Eastern Regional Dulcimer Champion. He has also won numerous awards at fiddler’s conventions including the prestigious Fiddler’s Grove (held in Union Grove, NC) and the Galax Old-time Fiddler’s Convention (held in Galax, VA).

Paul also performs with guitarist Marty Parmer as the duo Byrum and Parmer. Over the past 10 years, the duo has performed at numerous festivals in the Southeast. Paul can be found performing with various Bluegrass bands in the Northwest Georgia area on bass fiddle.

Paul is a member of the Southeastern Bluegrass Association (SEBA) and attends all things Bluegrass when possible.

Paul is also a workshop instructor and has taught several workshops for mountain dulcimer.
Paul resides in Dalton, Georgia, with his family and is available for performances.
