Biography
------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Brandon has been singing since before he can remember. Born in Blackpool in the Northwest of England 1976. Brandon was born the son of a singer mother whos father in turn was a multi-instrumentalist and singer. Brandon's Father Michael was a saxophonist (whose mother was a successful club singer), Brandon has music in his blood. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- At 5, Brandon's parents split just after moving to one of the government's experimental new towns - Skelmersdale. His first experiences of making music were in Church. He sang in a four part choral group at the age of 8 and was invited to sing in both the Liverpool cathedrals. Brandon continued through church to sing but lost the faith at 12 and moved away from the church group. Brandon's first taste of real music was an album called 'IT TAKES A NATION OF MILLIONS TO HOLD US BACK' by Public Enemy. This started a domino falling that has brought him to where he is today. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Brandon began writing his own Rhymes, Poems and Lyrics in secret at twelve and spent his teenage years discovering music and trying to fit in. He got into The Doors, Pink Floyd, Neil Young, Megadeth, Supertramp, Led Zep and Bob Marley to name but a few and slowley started to realise his taste did not reflect that of his peers. Brandon experimented with the Dance scene for a few years and enjoyed the tribal aspect to clubbing. The often euphoric crescendos gave Brandon a taste of things to come. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- By 16 Brandon had moved down south and was exposed to even more music... The Black Crowes, RHCP's, Bjork, Sultans of Ping FC and more. It is in the south of England that Brandon has his first taste of Real life and also met his first ever Musician friend Paul Courtnedge. Paul played a wine red Gibson SG, just like Robbee Kreigers, and was an absolute Gentleman. Brandon tried and failed to pick up his guitar skills there. He was in awe although he did sing a little now and again to Pauls strumming. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- At 18 Brandon was back up in the North of England and had finally found how to play guitar. He was bought his first guitar, a Tobacco Sunburst Hohner jumbo western acoustic by his then Girlfriends parents who were way, way cool (lisa and baz). They had a huge vinyl collection and really encouraged Brandon to take up his music. So Brandon did. Buying books on Oasis, Beatles and Supertramp, It wasn't long before he had formed his own Band (Thyme) and was gigging locally and writing/performing his own material including 'Fader' and 'Wageslave' alongside covers of Pink Floyd and Beatles. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Not before too long, Brandon's band was spotted by a local legend and guitar genius, Dave Martin. Dave asked for a jam and the next minute, Buzz Junkys were formed. Their two year outings ranged from Wolverhampton - London and all round the Northwest. They recorded an EP called HIGH and enjoyed local success. The best thing happening was a gig in the prestigous BORDERLINE in London and trying to be signed by Z.T.T. records after Rob Adamson from the label, came up from London specifically to hear the band. This close shave resulted in fractures and the band ended up splitting after the bass player left. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The wilderness then beckoned and Brandon cut his hair, got a job and only tinkered about on the guitar. never stopping writing but stopped performing alltogether. After a few too many bad relationships ending. Brandon was writing harder than ever and was invited by some close friends to recover up in Scotland after another bad ending to a relationship. This trip was the end of my wilderness years. I re-discovered God on a personal level and formed a solid bond that could never be broken. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Eventually by some weird coincidence, Brandon met an old Friend Paul Whalley. Paul was (and is) a bass player of the highest degree in that he knows that groove and locks right on into it. Paul and Brandon Jammed and ended up forming a band called REAL , the band brandon was a part of until very recently. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Brandon has always written acoustic music and has felt the need to publicise his acoustic affairs grew and grew over the years. Thanks to the internet, Brandon has now the opportunity to share this music with you. Most of it is rough and all of it is recorded at his home studio. The results are a chance to hear raw and unpolished versions of his spiritual & embryonic songs. This songs are ROUGH but one thing is for certain they are 100% REAL. All songs from experience no poncy show off rock n roll, just heartfelt honest songs. Sorry but no Rock stars here.... ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We are sure you will enjoy all that is posted here and Brandon would appreciate all the support he can get. He is a lover of music and a champion of the underdog. He writes for himself with a view to finding common ground to share and inspire. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Enjoy! Peace always....
