Biography
Music has always been a big part of who I am. My Mom was a multi-talented musician as well as a certified Music teacher and although she never had space available for me to take actual lesson's, I certainly learned a lot from her. My entire family is musical and a typical family gathering always has a minimum of 2 guitar's present. My daughter Kathy is following in my footsteps and I couldn't be more proud - her Grandma would be pleased as punch. I play rythm, accoustic guitar and I also took up the Bass about 2 years ago. My main strength would be my vocals and my ability to harmonize. I joined my first band when I was 18 in Calgary - it went through a few name changes but was mostly known as D.W. Country. We played full time for about 8 years. In 1988 I decided that working full time in the Bar scene was detrimental to my family life and I joined the ranks of part time musician and full time Mom. In 1996 I moved to Drumheller, Alberta and found an amazing pool of extremely talented people. Once again I was inspired to get back into the music business. I formed the band Slingshot with 2 other very talented gals and we sang our 3 part harmonies for crowds at the East Coulee Spring Festival, The Badlands Jamboree, The Bashaw Bluegrass festival and were honored to be able to play at Waynefest 1 & 2 ! For any gig's where we needed to expand our instrumental strength, we added an incredible lead player and a super drummer to our mix and we booked ourselves as " Patchwork". In 2005, I left Drumheller and made my move to Medicine Hat ( that darned day job). Since arriving in the Hat I've met some truly talented people that I've been privledged to jam with and many who I now call my friends. My musical focus these days is on the writing end of things. I've lead a diverse and interesting life and I have many, many stories to tell - song writing is my form of story telling . In March of 2007 I will be venturing into the studio for the first time and I will be recording 5 of my original tunes. Be sure to check back here at that time to take a listen.
