Biography

Sgian Dubh came together in Marietta, GA, in 2004. Drawing on the band members' individual musical influences and backgrounds, from rock to bluegrass to Celtic to blues, the band plays their own unique take on traditional music, including pub favorites, rebel and pirate songs, Celtic punk, the occasional ballad, plus a few originals thrown in for good measure!

The band formed when Bruce, wanting to expand his musical horizons after years of garage band rock & roll, rounded up Ray and Scott, former bandmates from the 1980's rock band The Ultrasonics - little did they know what they were about to get into! Shortly afterwards, they hooked up with a seasoned local Celtic fiddler in Gail, and Susan joined the band in the summer of 2006! The band has developed their own "alternative Celtic" style, mixing acoustic and electric modes, and has added a few originals to the more traditionally-based standards.
