Biography
Meri wrote songs from the tender age of 8, the first songs being Lampshade, a collaboration with her sister Jessica Grace, followed by family favourites like 'Roses'. Meri's early talent for songwriting lead to her excitement and enthusiasm in learning to play the guitar at 16 years old when her dad bought her a Telecaster and a lovely Fender Tube Amp - which she later sold to him for rent money :-( She was writing songs immediately and has continued creating beautiful upfront catchy songs ever since.
Meri has written many songs spanning a number of genres and subjects. She is influenced by Folk, Rock, Punk, Hip Hop and many other kinds of music and her songwriting reflects this. Her subject matter ranges from envy and self hate through lost love to found love to the way people treat themselves and the world around them. Meri always sings to all those around her and anyone who requests a song, believing that her talent should always be shared with others. This has lead her to play all over the UK and to perform as often as possible.
She has recorded 4 CD singles and EPs so far in her music career (which was stunted slightly by going to University to study Maths and Psychology - her dissertation was published - and then some warped vision that she wanted to be a maths teacher.)Thankfully she is now a mostly full time musician. The other couple of hours a week is spent selling UV skin markers and Glowsticks through her own company www.bodiglo.co.uk
The 'America' single was recorded professionally as a result of winning an acoustic music competition in Norfolk in 2006. The other tracks, 'Beautiful Unused' and 'Rescue' are favourites from her live set.
Live Meri always manages to please the audience and never plays the same set twice. She is very sensitive to the audience's needs and never fails to move people's hearts and make her audience think.
Meri is in the process of setting up her own record label in order to release her own music and that of some of her talented contempories.
Enjoy the music and watch this space.
