Lyrics:
Free to Serve

Its easy to think at the end of the day that its the work that makes us tired
So we groan and complain in the usual way and say were so dissatisfied
But I wonder if despite what we say, that we like it just like it is
Or are we so tired out because were serving ourselves that weve forgotten how it feels to give?

Chorus:

We are free to find joy in the world; in the midst of all our pain
We are free to love to one another though weve had a lousy day
And it feels so good to feed my neighbor because my hunger always goes away
Is the grand design that when I work for others, it gives God some time to work on me?

There is one who once said that my yoke is easy and my burden on you is light
If thats a promise or curse, I really dont know, but Ive always wondered if he got that right
Cause my boss would never say this is easy and for that matter neither would my wife
And even church is a burden if I think its a job, rather than a way of life

Chorus II (after bridge):
We are free help one another and let that wash away our pain
We are free to love extravagantly and know theres more from where that came
Like when we read to the sick or visit the aged, our suffering will go away
I dont wonder why love makes more love, I wonder why we throw love away

Bridge:
Well I am often tired of working,
And looking for some rest and peace
But when I work for higher purposes
It seems Ive found that missing piece
