Biography
Maeran formed in 1982. Dom and Steve met at Liverpool University and have been writing, recording and performing ever since. They originally performed covers of Simon-Garfunkel songs, but soon began producing their own original blend of folk/folk rock music combining unique melodies, captivating vocal and instrumental arrangements and powerful poignant lyrics that challenge people to listen to what they have to say.

Dom and Steve founded their own recording company and in 2005, their first CD, 'A Leaf Stains the Wind', originally went on sale although it is now available free as are all their CD's. It was the culmination of several years of hard work and includes some excellent original works, notably their anthem, 'Fight No More', which was number 1 in the mp3.com folk charts and in no less than 6 countries on several other mp3 sites. Recently, they completed and released their second CD of folk songs, 'Hollyhocks and Hedgerows', which they believe is like nothing else out there - twelve totally unique compositions that tell the story of childhood to adulthood in Maeran's own inimitable way.

Whilst these CD's are their first albumns of original folk songs, they are not actually their first albumns. They have produced several CD's of original Christmas folk carols and dances which have been distributed in this and other countries. Performers of the calibre of Maddy Prior have paid testimony to their quality and appeal and in December 2005 a selection of their Christmas songs were broadcast on Dutch Radio much to their great delight.

In addition to their music both Dom and Steve are published writers. Steve has written a delightful Christmas story entitled 'The Tale Of Was-ale and Yule-tide' (Trafford Books - check the link at the top of this page) and has verse included in a newly published book, 'Near Restful Waters'. He has also recently had published a wonderful book entitled 'The Sacramental Cat' a real must for spiritual cat lovers! Dom has recently had poetry included in a new anthology of Poetry, Midnight Thoughts', through Dogma Publications.

Despite having their first albumn on sale at efolk music, Dom and Steve have now decided not to sell but to distribute their CD's themselves. This is done without any charge and supports their 'Pass It On Music' charity initiative.

Very nice sound! Enjoyed your songs this morning and really like some of the harmonies you did together. Nice job! Rosie
