"The Aftermath" was established in 2004 by Fatima Matieva and Taita Matieva (sisters). The musical style of the group is combination of folk, blues and classical. "We have loved this kind of life for a long time. From the time when we were studying in primary school and heard music of the Beatles and Rolling Stones for the first time, it touched us at the soul. We fell in love with the music. So many happy moments we had when we had heard Creedence, Animals, T-Rex, when we "met" with Joe Cocker, Nina Simone (her sincere voice can explain the whole life in a few minutes), and Dylan!! When we saw Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, etc. play.. All these simple by sight people were doing these great compositions. We have always listened to plenty of good music - Bach, Beethoven, Bernstein, Sinatra, Ray Charles, Muddy Waters, Beatles, Davy Graham, Robert Cray, etc. - so when we finished school we knew about the origin and development of music enough to work on any interlocutor!!! To our great happiness, we soon noticed that music, words and all the rest from that make up a song, were arisen in our heads. We started to write songs! Our own songs! From that time we decided to organise a group. Because it is, surely, pleasant to sing somebody's songs, but this definitely didn't make us happy. Because the songs were not our own! But now everything had changed. We are now full value musicians. Now everything was as we always wanted (dangerous word "always"). One can study and teach music, discuss and experiment with music, music can be recorded and sung, but nobody knows where music gets such great power under our emotions." Fatima Matieva and Taita Matieva were born and grew up in Grozny city. "It was good time and good place, which we had to leave for the well-known reasons." In September 2006, Aftermath's first album, called "I Follow Song", was released in Moscow. The album consists of 14 songs of the group's own English language songs.
