Biography
Started playing mandolin at age 10. Over time added guitar, tenor banjo, accordion, saxophone, jew's harp and eventually classical piano. Have a MM from the University of Missouri in Kansas City with an emphasis in composition. For my regular job I'm an elementary band teacher in the Kansas City Missouri School District. I've written chamber music for the K.C. ensemble, newEar, arranged musical greeting cards for Hallmark Cards, and composed the soundtrack to Richard Corbin's SciFi video release "The Dark Planet" as well as played in various celtic, bluegrass, surf and novelty bands over the years. Got my first ukulele about a year ago and was unexpectedly charmed by the instruments innate beauty. Am currently enjoying building cigar-box guitars, learning to play the fretless 11 string Godin "Glissentar", playing piano in the big band/swing band "The Overtones" and working towards reforming my surf rock band, "The Mudsharks".
