Biography
Born in Philadelphia and a product of the sixties suburbs of Newtown Square, PA, Robert Bobby has wanted to be a folk singer ever since he first heard The Freewheelin Bob Dylan in the early 60's. During his high school years he frequented the Main Point folk club in Bryn Mawr almost every week to hear such favorites as Chris Smither, Tom Rush, Dave Van Ronk, Tim Buckley & countless others. After attending Franklin & Marshall College he settled in Lancaster, PA and formed The Speedboys, a nationally acclaimed rock and rhythm & blues band. Reviews of Robert Bobbys albums have appeared in Rolling Stone, Sing Out, The Village Voice, Philadelphia Inquirer, Los Angeles Herald Examiner & the Boston Phoenix. His most recent cds F*U*B*A*R released in 2001 & S*N*A*F*U released in 2004 have received air play on folk radio shows throughout the country & Australia. He considers his singing, song writing & live performance to be his greatest strengths. In addition to his own songs, audiences can expect to hear his versions of other contemporary songwriters from Bob Dylan to 1960's Motown favorites.
Robert Bobby now performs and records from his home base in Lancaster, PA where he lives with his wife, a siamese cat named Teddy- & 3 coonhounds-Biscuit , Jelly & Otis.
