Cats & Irish Drinking Songs
by bellobard, posted 19 May 2005 07:10 AM
Cats. Irish music. Drinking songs. Nowhere else but from the bright imagination of Marc Gunn would those three elements be so neatly integrated. Yet Gunn, sometimes called “the hardest working man in Celtic music” around his hometown in Austin, is an accomplished musician and entrepreneur who not long ago headlined at the Oscar party for Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.
I was just another singer/songwriter when I was invited to play music at a Renaissance Festival. My world was forever changed by that experience.
Before I knew it, I was playing Celtic folk music with the Brobdingnagian Bards, giving away thousands of free music downloads online and making a name for myself as a writer in the music business.
Fortunately my adventures are only getting better. I perform fun Irish and Scottish songs with The Bards throughout America. I continue to write fun and heart-warming songs about Celts and cats, history and Renaissance faires, hobbits, elves, faeries, and other residents of Middle Earth.
Wow! It's hard to believe that I didn't seriously start writing poetry until about two years ago. Now, I write poetry almost non-stop. One day soon, I even hope to finish that book of poetry I've been talking about.
I travel a lot thanks to the music. That's allowed me many opportunities to improve my photography skills. I dig that because I love taking pictures of people and their environment.
Hmm? I guess I'm finally using my Geography degree.
Any case, I hope you enjoy my wee home online. Dig deep and you just might find something that will touch you too.
Oh! And if you like what you read and hear, drop me an email. I'd love to hear from ye.
