Come Thou Almighty King / Lord Inchiquin / Eleanor Plunkett

by dulcilydian, posted 08 Jul 2007 08:14 PM

This is what I call a "tune sandwich" - that is, a medley in which the first and last tunes are the same. So I guess this one's a "double-decker tune sandwich", because the hymn is the first, third, and last tune, and the Carolans are second and fourth.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy it.

Slainte,
Jim

Sumer Is Icumen In

by dulcilydian, posted 19 Jun 2007 09:23 PM

I did this one because, well, you probably guessed it! ;-)

To record this, I used a McSpadden mountain dulcimer for the drone backing, and a Hoover PVC whistle for the melody.

The whistle in the first verse was recorded straight, but then I worked a little sound editing magic to get the three-part round in the second verse.

I hope you enjoy it. :-)

All the best,
Jim

This is an arrangement of the fiddle tune "June Apple" into a blues format.

Enjoy,
Jim
