Spotted Pony - Old Jawbone

by Banjo_Brad, posted 20 Mar 2008 09:35 PM

Spotted Pony - Old Jawbone I have added a new album to my music, and started with 2 clawhammer banjo solos recorded on my patio.

"Spotted Pony" is a catchy tune I have liked since I started playing the banjo, and finally got to the point of recording it. Done in the key of D, you can almost see the pony trotting down the road in the early evening.

"Old Jawbone" is a Henry Reed fiddle tune that fits well on clawhammer banjo, especially since I hope to add the fiddle "Real Soon Now". Traditionally done in the key of G, I have remained true to the key.

Both tunes are available for download. You may also elect to purchase a WAV file of them from the "VAULT" for $0.85 each. Any income derived from the sale of my music is earmarked for maintenance of the Tucson Old Time Music Circle webpage and to help defray expenses of the monthly meetings.

New Fiddle Tune Added

by Banjo_Brad, posted 13 Oct 2007 09:21 PM

Well, I finally got something recorded! Here's 2 fiddle tunes I did with a guitarist in the large meeting room of the Oro Valley Public Library.

There are 2 tunes, Angelina Baker and Soldier's Joy in the recording. The LoFi Stream is Here .

If you want to find it on my music pages, click the "album" button and go to the "Fiddling Around" Album.

My fiddling is starting to come around, and I have gotten over any shyness of playing with others a bit.

The recording data is under the "Read More" link below.

Cluck Old Hen

Done in G modal tuning (gDGCD) on my brand new Chuck Lee banjo.

Normally this is done in A modal, but I wanted to show the tone of the Chuck Lee without a capo. The first two times through are played over the head, I then moved up over the frailing scallop.

Enjoy the sound!

"Pusch Ridge" and "Liza Poor Gal" mp3's

by Banjo_Brad, posted 30 Dec 2006 04:44 PM

I have just added 2 tunes to my site here.

"Pusch Ridge" is an original Clawhammer banjo tune that I developed while attempting to learn "Fortune." It is available for streaming.

"Liza Poor Gal" is a fiddle tune I am working on and decided to put up for comments. I laid down a guitar track, then the fiddle, then I decided to go ahead and add the banjo track also.

Comments welcome.
