Bluegrass Banjo

Big Rock Candy Mountain – #Bluegrass #Banjo #Tablature

Here are three bluegrass banjo arrangements of “Big Rock Candy Mountain.” I haven’t recorded it with bluegrass banjo but I’ll include my guitar recording below for reference. The guitar recording is in the key of C and the banjo arrangements are in the key of G, so if you want to play along with the recording you would need to capo everything (including the 5th string) up five frets.

Here’s the guitar recording:

Shady Grove – #Clawhammer and #Bluegrass #Banjo #Tablature

I recorded this on a banjola, which has a 5-string banjo neck and is played like a banjo but  has a mandola body, which results in a much more mellow sound. The first 2 minutes 10 seconds is played clawhammer style and then I switched to bluegrass (without picks) for the remainder of the song.

Groundhog – #Clawhammer and #Bluegrass #Banjo #Tablature

The recording is played clawhammer style but I’m including three bluegrass banjo arrangements as well as the three clawhammer banjo arrangements.

I combined both bluegrass banjo and clawhammer banjo on this recording. I played mostly the Level 3 arrangements below.

Wildwood Flower – #Flatpick #Guitar, #Bluegrass and #Clawhammer #Banjo #Tablature

A few days after the attack on the World Trade Center my wife and I took the original words to all the verses of “The Star Spangled Banner” and used some of those that were appropriate as well as adding some of our own to create a patriotic song to the tune of Wildwood Flower. Following the video I’m including a bunch of different arrangements of Wildwood Flower including 4 for guitar, 3 for bluegrass banjo, and 3 for clawhammer banjo. The recording is in the key of G. Some of the arrangements are in G and others are in the key of C.

I’m going to add all of the arrangements to this post. Let me know if loading all of the different tabs causes problems with your computer and I can separate them into three different posts, but I’d like to leave them all together if it works out.
