Hey Matt,
I've been playing Wagon Wheel, but much like Kevin Hayes does on that song, I pretty much just play the chords in a clawhammer style, with the occasional single note or pull off, letting the guitar and the fiddle take the mainstage. I play it in G, but if you're playing with a fiddle, you might want to capo up to an A so it sounds better. The tune is really a showcase for Ketch's fiddle, at any rate, so if you want to play along and provide filler, you can do that with the chords and figure out the filler stuff for yourself without needing any tablature. The chords:
G D
Headed down south to the land of the pines
Em C
I'm thumbin my way into North Caroline
G D
Lookin down the road and I pray to God I see
C
head lights
G D
I made down the coast in seventeen hours
Em C
pickin me a boquet of dog wood flowers and I'm
G D C
hopin for Reliegh I can see my baby tonight |
Those are the chords for the whole song, including the chorus. Hope that helps.
Cheers,
Aaron
