I just purchased by mail a beautiful, wonderful-sounding Jenny Bushman tenor uke, but contrary to multiple websites, it's saddle is GLUED-IN so I cannot remove it to sand down to make the action lower. (It's ok at the nut).   Elderly instruments from whom I bought it says all their Bushman uke's have glued-in saddles.  Anyone out there successful in removing the GLUE from the Bushman uke w/o damaging the instruments?  I don't like the idea of sanding down a saddle "in place" on the bridge.:(

UPDATE:  I'm "replying" to my own post for  FYI to everyone:  I got e-mail back from John Hall at the Jenny Bushman Company and he says the retailer is wrong and Bushman uke saddles are NOT (should not) glued in.  I believe my saddle being glued-in was an assembly line OPPS/MISTAKE.  However, John Hall/Jenny Bushman Company was VERY HELPFUL and offered to pay shipping costs back to the retailer.  I spoke with a salesperson and he offered  to call me when they got a shipment of the Bushman model ; they even offered to set the action to my personal specs !  so... I'm VERY IMPRESSSED WITH THESE  John Hall/Jenny Bushman FOLKS - that's what I call real customer service.  FYI I'd MAKE SURE the "saddle" (that's the little white piece of bone on top of the bridge at the bottom of the uke that holds the strings up off of the bridge - just like on a guitar) is removable before I bought any ukelele, unless you're  perfectly happy with the "action"  as is. Having a removable Nut and saddle can make all the difference in the world because you can adjust what they call the "action" on your uke; IMHO this can make a BIG difference in the EASE OF PLAYING of your little uke,  unless you're happy with it as is.  There are other factors which deteremine "ease of playing" but that's two of the "basics" presuming other uke components are to spec.

I don't know what all uke manufactuers have a removable nut/saddle.  Ukes below a certain price range may or may not have removable nuts/saddles.   If you've never played any string instrument before, IMHO highly recommend you buy from a retailer/outlet/manufactuer who takes returns or... buy locally so you can try it out before purchase so you can see if the "playability" is to your liking. Or, if purchasing by mail, consider telling retailer (if they do such) to "set the action low but no buzzing even with hard playing and give me an extra nut & bridge", unless you're into detailed specs. NOTE:   I'm no uke/guitar expert or technician so those out there more knowledgable please feel free to comment or correct as needed.
