Hi to all! Apologies for my long absence from the forum. One year after my idea of an Irish Ukulele Club, it's still a project. Nothing done yet. I wonder if in the meantime other players from Belfast or near Belfast have joined the forum, and if they are interested, please let me know. It will be nice to know how many of us are out there! And, by all means, if any other uker will come here on holidays, don't forget your uke.

All the Best!

Tani

Hi Tani,

Good to see your post.

I am in Dublin and have been gathering names of uke players aound the whole country (North and South) with the idea of setting up a uke club or get together.

I have a list about twelve interested uke players now and am emailing them all in the next week about an initial meetup. I have had three enquiries from Northern Ireland but no one from Belfast.

If you feel you might like to join us to see where we might go with this, you would be very welcome. As the players are spread throughout the country, the meet up place will require some discussion!

PM me with your email if you are interested.

Kind regards,

Tony:D

Hello Smiler and Tani,

I've just joined this site.

I think I spotted your post about the Dublin Meeting for Uke players on 9th and 10th August on another site Tony.

Tani, Ludwig O'Neill, a Belfast guitar playing singer songwriter, runs Acoustic Sessions on Sunday nights. They used to take place at the Rotterdam but starting on Sunday 6th July the sessions will be held in the upstairs bar at White's Tavern in Winecellar Entry. Everyone is welcome.

I'm not an instrumentalist but the other day I purchased a guitar in a local charity shop. I'm planning to head to the Acoustic Sessions to get a few tips from the guys. One of the guys who is with the same record company as Ludwig plays a banjo uke. I met him some time ago but unfortunately he's from England and I don't know when he'll be over in Ireland again.

Tony, have you any objection if I mention the proposed Uke Club on some of the music sites on which I'm posting messages?

Christopher

Hello Tony,

I received a message from Adele http://www.myspace.com/adeleingrammagee  She knows a Uke player in Belfast (it may be Tani) and another in Portrush. She's passing the message and existing links on to them.

Christopher

Hi Christopher. Thank you very much for the info. I don't know if I can make it tomorrow at the White's Tavern, but I'll try. All the best! T.

Hi JukeUke,
Just saw your post and I hope you do manage to meet up with other uke players in Belfast, I know there are a number of them as some are members of our Ukuhooley that meets in Dublin on the second Saturday of each month. We started last August and the number of uke players continues to grow. Best wishes,
Tony

Are there any other uke plkayers in Belfast?

Best of luck Fred starting a ukulele club in Belfast. I know there are uke players there, I feel sure its just a case of reaching them.
We started a countrywide ukulele club that meets up in Dublin a couple of times each month and members come from all parts of Ireland including Belfast and other parts of Northern Ireland. We will be celebrating our first anniversary by presenting Ireland's first International Ukulele Festival in Temple Bar, Dublin on Sunday August 16th. Ukulele players are coming from all over Europe and further afield and include YouTube Uke Stars including, Gus and Finn from Scotland, UkuleleZaza (Holland), Wininboys(Belgium), Steven Sproat (UK), Ukebox (Holland), Vertigo Smyth (Ireland),Peter Delaney(Ireland) and other Artists still to be announced. Its also a celebration of the 130th Birthday of the "birth" of the ukulele!
You are very welcome to join us for the day Fred, its always good to meet other uke players on this little island. The website for Ukuhooley (our club) is: http://www.ukeireland.com
Once again, Good Luck with your mission Fred. Keep at it!

One further thing Fred, I sent you an email at the email address in your post but it was bounced back, is it the right one?
Best Wishes,
