So i'm still new to Ukuleles, but I can see myself continuing to play for years. I've had mine for a little over 2 weeks and I can't put it down. The one I currently have is a 40$ hilo? Its pretty cheap, so I was looking to get a new/nicer one for christmas. Mine is a soprano. I like the soprano but I would like something a tad larger. So concert or Tenor. http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-LACEWOOD-SPRUCE-KALA-SOPRANO-SOLID-WOOD-UKULELE_W0QQitemZ250321777704QQihZ015QQcategoryZ16224QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1713.m153.l1262

This one caught my eye. Its not super expensive, and the wood is absolutely georgous. I love the shape as well. Ive read good things for Kala. What do you all think? Like I said, I'm super new. The only requirements would be under 400$ a good sound, tenor/concert, and I would perfer one with a similar wood grain to the one I linked. Oh, and how easy is it to change the saddle to one with amp pickups? Is it even possible? Thanks in advance.

Edit: Just realized my link was to a soprano haha.Thats the look I was looking for though. I'm not partial to the mahogany finish, but I suppose I can't be too picky.

I like my soprano but I want something slightly larger. Can you put a low-g string on a soprano?

You can do anything you want. You may have intonation issues with a larger diameter string, but most likely only if you're playing past the 5th fret.

Hi Mila, You might want to check the "Pono" series. I believe they will have a make and model in your budget! Plus they sound amazing for what you pay.

Milla,

The one you linked to is from MusicGuyMic. Call him (during Hawaii business hours) at 1.757.777.7873 and tell him your desires and budget. He has a huge selection and he won't steer you wrong.

Plus he'll probably upgrade the strings for you and he always sets up the ukuleles he sells, even the less expensive models.

Right now, I am waiting for the arrival of my first uke. I had narrowed it down to two -- KOA with a solid cedar top and the solid lacewood/spruce one you are looking at. If these old fingers manage to learn anything over the next six months, I will definitely be back for the lacewood/spuce -- it is just to gorgeous to pass up.

I got the Flame maple Sprucetop From Kala. Soprano. unfortunantly it developed a crack 4 days after i got it, so its on the way back. But it sounds and looks amazing. I can't wait to get the replacement so I can resume shredding.
