Hey guys, started playing uke a couple months ago, and I love it. Now im looking to upgrade to a better uke. I currently have a mitchell (concert). Im looking for an acoustic-electric so I can jam with my friends and be heard. Im looking to spend around $200 but willing to go up to $250 for something really nice.

Check musicguymic on Ebay. He has several ukes that may interest you. I suggest you look at the Kalas as a good choice.

I don't know much about electric ukes, but I hear that the Applause Ovation ukes are good. But they may be out of your price range.

Just sent back an Applause - not as nice as the one I let go a few years back. If you can find one with a soundboard transducer (SBT) as opposed to an under saddle transducer(UST), you get more natural sound, though a little more prone to feed back. I like the K & K pickup (SBT) they put in Flukes and Fleas - plus the intonation and playability on those is pretty consistent and very good. Especially for gigging, they are rugged ukes.
