Considering getting a concert eleuke, about £120, so $180 ish. I really want to get plugged in, and don't want to drill holes in my solid mahogony tenor This thing looks good in pictures, solid rosewood body and neck. In fact, it's this one from eBay, UK: Item number : 220367123909 Anyone got any experiences of these, good or bad?

I had one, reviewed on my uke site. Not very ukulele-sounding: more like an electrified nylon-string guitar. The solid body doesn't make it sound even close to traditional. It plays well enough. The A string was a tad too close to the edge of the fretboard for my taste, but otherwise well made. Mine had a built-in headphone amp which made it better for late-night strumming. I sold mine because I like the acoustic-electric sound better.

Thanks man, that's very informative. On my local 'acoustic' night, I have to compete with massive 6 string and 12 string electro-acoustic guitar sound, plus vocal. We tried doing micing up an acoustic soprano but it was variable and sounded so weak compared with the guitar sets. Nothing you said about this has put me off so I'm quite happy. I suppose we will see. It's just a wee bit out of the 'no brainer' purchase bracket. Still if I was to buy a pickup kit for my tenor, get someone to drill it and stand the stress, it's probably worth it for a punt at the end of the day. Thanks!

I have a tenor eleuke and it's a blast to play. I switched out the strings to DGBE tuning and I really enjoy playing classic rock songs on it. If you are looking for a traditional sounding ukulele, this is not it. But, if you want a versatile fun little instrument, the eleuke is hard to beat!

I use mine all the time to practice with on the couch while watching TV. It has definitely reduced the number of objects thrown at my head by my wife. The playability on this is excellent. The neck is very fast. I run mine through an effects pedal & get all kinds of sounds...some even sound close to ukey...
