I have a no-name soprano that I've installed a K&K HotSpot pickup in. I've painted edge markers on the neck with dots of silver nail polish. It plays well and has no damage. The nut could use a reset (I got it in there a tad off). It has needed no pre-amp through the majority of the sound systems I've plugged through. It doesn't sound bad acoustically either! It has Concert gauge Aquila nylgut strings.
