I really do appreciate all the encouragement... without that it's easy to run out of steam. I don't want to get into the donation thing or charging people to use the website, but there is something that wouldn't cost people anything that would help tremendously:

If you'd keep in mind when you're shopping on the Internet to go through the ezFolk links to buy something, then you'd pay the same price but it would help support ezFolk. I'm not saying buy something you're not going to buy anyway, just the stuff you'd ordinarily buy online. Throughout the ezFolk site (with some exceptions such as the forums, MP3 section, and link directory) on the menu at the top of the page there is a link to "Instruments," which leads to the ezFolk affiliation with Musician's Friend, and the link for "Books/CDs/DVDs" leads to Amazon links. Virtually anything you can buy online you can get through those links.

Believe me, I'm far from getting rich off this website. If I could just make a living I'd be thrilled. I work every day as a medical transcriptionist :type: (check out the great spelling and grammar!) and that's what pays the bills. That's not meant to elicit sympathy; I love running the website, but not so much that if I can do it for free for the rest of my life. I'm kind of hoping that eventually I can make a living, so keep the ezFolk links in mind when you're shopping online.

:wave1:

I tried it in another browser, and it works just fine, but I can't get it to work in Safari.  Kind of a drag, because it's my main browser. Amy

I've only got Safari Richard. Got a few bugs like all software buttons just take me to my account. :(

Like the new layout design though.

Thanks for all your hard work. TJ

Hi Richard,

Thanks for the tip on that.  Hadn't heard of Musician's Friend, but Amazon certainly has a lot of my $$$.

Spoken as someone with a zodiac sign (and yes, like Banjo Brad I'm thankful I didn't enter my bday) indicating an aversion to change,  I really like the ezFolk re-vamp.  But I did decide to revert to the MerseyGator theme (where I had been) from the default Cobalt (hey, that rhymes).  In doing so I found what looks like a small but somewhat nasty little error.  It looks like Cobalt is using the rating for the first song in place of the artist rating.  Under MerseyGator I have had an artist rating of 5 (with six votes) for some time now, but under Cobalt my artist rating is 4.5 (same as Morpeth Rant, the first song on my list).  Petty of me, I know, but I can do vain (or was that vein? - a little medical transciptionist humor).

Thanks again for the tip, and for all the hard work.

Lyle

Richard - you just made my day!!:roll::roll:

I'm stuck at home with a nasty cold, feeling sorry for myself, it's snowing outside on Oct. 12, and then I read this. Just TOO funny! Hope you don't mind if I send these along to some friends.

Thanks for sharing those with us! :laugh10::laugh10:

I like the change, and I'm finding new things as I play around with it. One thing that I kind of miss is a feature that was in the "charts" section. When you looked at the charts by genre, there was an option to play that genre.  I don't see it now, but I could be overlooking it.

Actually, I would occaisionally use the ability to just randomly play any tunes that have been categorized together (gimme all your autoharps, NOW).

From what I am reading from most...may I suggest checking your browser(s) to see if it may out of date and  you may need to download an upgrade to accommodate some of the new programming of this new site.  You might even find some new features you like once you get used to them.

If you need help finding where you can upgrade drop me a line and I will be glad to help.

Hi Brad, Try this link. I see they offer browser upgrades for Window 98 SE along with others. http://www.download.com/2001-2137-0.html

PS just FYI to everyone CNET http://www.cnet.com offers all kinds of downloads for hardware you may lost CD's or need updated drivers for a printer, camera etc. making them usable again with ME, 2000, XP as well.

Here is another for Safari users http://www.simmons.edu/upgrade/ and

http://www.apple.com/au/safari/ and http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/safari.html

other sources http://www.yourhtmlsource.com/browserupgrades.html

Hope this helps?

Hey Richard,

I just wanted to say that I checked out the new look and I approve. Many thanks for all the hard work you're putting into this endeavor.

There is just one small nit that I have. That is that the images used for our recordings now have a squashed look. Before, our images were most natural looking in a square field but now it seems we'll have to upload images that have dimensions that are wider than they are tall in order to get them to appear unsquashed.

Okay, just one more glitch seems to be happening. Whilst I was checking the link to my site today, I was taken to my page but the background colors were not there. It was a sterile white rather than the darker blue. Is this something you are aware of in your updating process?

Thanks again, Reg
