Richard - I seem to have lost all the songs on my hifi station and can't work out how to load some back on again - I went in and put my name as featured artist, but it doesn't come up with a list of my songs - what am I doing wrong?

Hey John,

I went in the chose you as the artist and didn't have any trouble with it. The HiFi station seems normal now. I did notice, however, that the LoFi station has only 8 of your 11 songs on there. I'm not sure why that is and I wasn't able to fix it.

There have been a few different issues with the stations in general, especially with the change in the way artists and songs are chosen, and this has been changed around a couple of times. Hopefully with the next update this will be taken care of.

Richard-

I was just looking at my stations, and discovered that 2 of them have errors. Both the FTBB and the Farmers Market say null song lists.

These two should have me as the only artist, but when I try to go back and add songs for selected artists, there is no way to select songs. There definitely seems to be a problem with the station setup software.

I have tried several times to come back and correct this, but the area where I should be able to select songs by allowed artists doesn't seem to be there.

Brad,

I think the problem is a breakdown in communication between the old original way of creating and maintaining the stations and the new way that was implemented a few months ago.

Here's what happened. When the new way of doing things came about I switched the system over to the new one and left it that way for several months and during that time a lot of stations were created. You'll remember that you would go in an find an artist and click on individual songs.

About a month ago I decided that the new way was not nearly as good as the old way of doing it so I quietly switched it back to the original way. At the time I didn't think that much of it and thought it wouldn't really cause problems with stations that were created under the new method, but apparently it has, so I apologize for that.

Just yesterday I noticed that the system station for clawhammer banjo was only picking up 29 songs although there are many more than that in the clawhammer genre. When I went in to check on why this was happening I ran into the same problem as you -- the options weren't there that I needed to straighten it out. So what I did was create a new station that includes all of the clawhammer and I linked it into the clawhammer banjo section. That's a lot easier with the old method since you can just choose an entire genre or artist and each time a song is added the station updates automatically. That's way better than the new method of having to choose and enter every song manually.

So that's why I changed it. I don't want to go back to the new method because of those limitations, so the best thing for you and anybody else to do would be to create a new station that includes everything you want. Then you can just delete your old station that has the problems or leave them on there. I left the old clawhammer station for the time being but I'll probably delete in a few weeks.

Sorry for the problem. I think that will take care of it. Let me know if not.

Richard-

I just created a new station, per your suggestion, and still am unable to specify songs.

I selected myself as the only included artist, saved the station, and exited the area. Then I signed back in and attempted to modify the station. I should have been able to specify specific songs at that point, but that section just shows the lable with no list or way of accessing the list of songs.

Hey Brad,

I see what you're saying. With the risk of being tarred and feathered, I went ahead and switched back to the "new" method of song selection for the stations. Although the new method takes a little longer, it might work correctly so that's probably a good reason to use it.

I didn't know which station you were working with but after I did the switch I tried the one where you have 66 songs and it looked like you should be able to add or remove songs so *I think* everything should work now.

Let me know how this works out.

Richard-

I just checked my stations. I can now add and delete songs ok, but the two newest stations still show as an error, empty playlists  on my "Stations" page.
Both stations show (under administator rights) that I have songs listed on them. In fact, the "Live" station I edited to remove all my songs except the lofi ones that I taped at the farmer's market.

Brad,

How about just going in and deleting the two stations you're having a problem with because maybe they were created with a different method and that's causing a problem. Then try creating them again from scratch and see if that does the job. If not, tell me the names of the stations you're having a problem with and what you want on them and I'll see if I can do it.

Strange-

I was fooling around with the stations, and "Saved" the playlists. Both stations then showed with existing playlists. So, ok on that.

But, leave it to me, on the "Live at the Farmer's Market" station, there are 2 songs that shouldn't be there, but don't appear in the playlist as administrator. Sally in the Garden, and John Henry. I cannot remove those two songs.

If you could remove them from the Farmers Market station, I would appreciate it.

(Ain't computers fun?)

Brad

Brad... I've got the same problem as you do. I can't see the songs on the list to remove them. I think there are generally some issues with the part of the script that handles radio stations. Hopefully they'll be worked out as the script progresses, but there's really nothing I can do to fix it. You could try re-creating the station and see if that works. Sorry.
