I recorded this little tune with my home built mandolin,  My recorder I us cassette tape and when the tape gets close to the end, It speeds up and slows down, I guess that is what happens with cassette recorders, any suggestion.

play hi-bitrate (mp3) (broadband)
play lo-bitrate (mp3) (dial-up)

Charlie-

Nice work, keep at it.

Do you have an AC adapter to power the recorder? They help keep a steady power supply into the motor. Also, I have found it helpful to completely wind the tape forward on both sides sto make sure that the tape has sufficent tension with no loose winds before recording onto it or playing it back into the computer.

If you don't have an adapter, be sure the batteries are fresh.

Keep at it, you're coming along.

Hey Brad,  I do have it on house current,  I record in to a little 4 track Tascam and do my tracks and then I make my master in to a Sony tape deck, Then I have to transfer it to my computer to convert it to MP3.

I may try going stright to my computer with my mix and see how that works,

I have done the Joe Clark a few times this morning and still want it to sound better and when I finish, I will let you know and have a listen.

Charlie-

Yeah, do try going direct to the computer - it solves a lot of problems! I finally got a good, heavy metal mute for the fiddle, so I don't need to record in the garage and then transfer to the computer. This way, I don't have the speed-up problems I had with the cassette player (part of which may have been the feedback from the garage area).

The more steps you can omit between the playing and the final take, the less problems that are apt to crop up.

Yes it did help, I recorded stright to the computer and it did good,

I have been having trouble now hearing the fiddle over my own banjo and when I turn it up, I get a lot of feed back, It did OK the last time I tried, but I got out of time with your fiddle,  I do use a head set also.

I am going to give it a couple more tries before I publish it to you.

Thanks for all the help

Charlie

I'd like to second Dean's emotion.  What a fine sounding instrument, and your playing continues to blossom astoundingly!
