Well, it's raw and rough, but what the heck. I can tell much of the singing is out of key...but it's the best i can do...so here's my first ever slide song on my National reso:cool:

One More Bottle of Whiskey

By the way...the song is something I experienced nightly for several years, a long time ago. The woman mentioned in the song died last year.

Hello 1four5, I feel your pain in this blues track, very emotional and powerful lyrics that tackles a subject that is very hard and i compliment you on that especially based on life's experiences. The slide geetar sounds faboulous and sent me on a journey in my mind that i didnt know existed. Congrats ! Good Job !

Thank you very much James! That's what this is all about for me, and has been since I picked up a guitar. Some people think that you get over these things, well, you kind of do with time. But it never ever really goes away. Just gets burried deeper and deeper. Nothing feels as bad and as good at the same time as playing it all out on an instrument. :)

Well, since it's raining outside and I didn't have to do yard work today, I was able to record another one that's been bouncing around in my head. The lyrics get a little prime time, Richard, let me know if it's too much for ezFolk, and I'll pull it if you want.

Three Down

Hey Dean,

Two (2) great songs.:clap: I guess this is what happens when you play em for a month or more before you record. You said you wanted to get more polished and you did. The slide guitar is great, and the lyrics are excellent.:guitar1: You know I especially love the " one more bottle of whiskey" lyrics.

Hey everyone else

If you like Dean's music and his life experience lyrics, you should get to hang around with him everyday like I do. He has taught me a lot and I hope he has learned from me. Mushy stuff aside, we have a lot of fun playing this kind of music at work everyday. Although not everyone at work enjoys it, most do. Maybe I can get him hooked on some of my Praise songs and some Cowboy stuff.:serenade:

I've never been a whiskey fan, but this song might just change my mind. I like the other one too. Where's the uke solo in there?

This is sweet. I'm glad I never had to resort to begging to hear your new reso guitar. I came real close a couple of times...

What open tuning do you use in these songs?

I like the ending about strumming the blues away. Music can definitely fill the same hole that booze does.

Awesome work!

~John (Your fellow fan over here in the MAS (mutual admiration society).)

Great job Dean...never was a Whiskey man myself...had a bad experience with Mr. Jack Daniels in high school (as they say "Jack talks back") and can't even smell the stuff without feeling ill. The reso sounds awesome and you certainly can play it well. Look forward to hearing more!

Pete (another member of the MAS...lol)

WOW! Thanks you guys! Thanks a bunch Tim! Tim always gets to hear my stuff as it developes...over and over...:) In fact I think Tim can sing the whiskey song a lot better than I can...maybe if we beg, he'll post a version:cool:

UF, I've been dying to get something up on the reso, but the first thing I learned about the reso is that it is extreamly sensitive...and any mistake is amplified big time! It has taken the better part of a month to be able to play it halfway decently...but it's been worth it! I've got it tuned to open D. I'm thinking that playing is more addicting than the whiskey...at least I was able to stop drinking:)...playing filles the empty hole much better too!!!:drink1:

I could never afford Jack back then...I was usually Jim Beam or Old Grandad or anything cheap...  Jack or Crown was always consider the premium. Man I haven't touched the sauce for over 14 years...but when I catch a wiff...man it's like it was only yesterday:fear:

By the time I did the second song I was all hyper (too much coffee...my most severe addiction)...and when I get that way I start adding little tidbits inbetween lyrics off the cuff...sometimes that's the funnest part.

Thanks again you'all!

You're Welcome Dean

I guess you and me need to go to Kathy's at lunch time Monday ( I'm on orders ) and look at them Rogues. I'm ready to jump in.:guitar1:

I couldn't do a version of One More Bottle of Whiskey, cause it would take away from the basic message of the song. You lived it, I didn't, see what I mean. Keep em coming brudda

Tim

Right on Tim!!!

We gonna have to call Kathy's...I'm not sure, but I don't think she opens untill noon. You're gonna have to get them fingers limbered up...cause resos like to be finger picked...get a pic out and you might get arrested for disturbing the peace in the next town! I played the Samick at Ulicks and hated it, but the Rouges at Kathy's really boomed. She has a tech working there, and I think he knows how to set em up right!
