I wrote this one at the beginning of the year, but never really got around to sharing it here. However, now I'd like to throw it out there for some feedback. The lyrics and the music are my own creation, and it is written in such a way that I believe it sounds like something Jim and Maury might have come up with themselves.

Hope you guys enjoy it.

Lou'siana Town

One fine night
Long time ago
In Lou'siana town
Two fine men were playin' a show
And people gathered round.

The crowd they all stood singin'
As Maury played guitar
The music was their reason
And Jim Croce was the star

Chorus: All of these years later
              People sadly say
There's one less set of footsteps
              In this world today

Sang a song about an "Operator"
You can keep the dime
A couple more songs and an hour's passed
I do believe it's time.

People started leavin'
The place had been quite full
The awful thing that happened next
We remember still

Chorus

Solo

Chorus

(a capella) There's one less set of footsteps, in this world today.

It won't play for me, either. From either the link you provided, Shady, or by going to your music page and trying from there.

Yup, works fine!

Nice, but as you know, a bit too electric (or electronic) for my tastes. I never listened much to Croce, and I have no idea who the other reference is, so I can't say much on that plane.

Thanks, Brad.

The guitar's got a bit of an effect on it, which is probably what you're hearing. Maury Muehleisen was Jim Croce's lead guitarist, and a formidable guitarist in his own right. As you probably know, they were both on the same plane in September 1973, which hit a pecan tree, killing them and all of the other passengers on board the craft.

Hmm- quite possibly killed my own topic, but I hope I'll be able to get some feedback from you folks if you're so inclined. I've been waiting some time to share this one with you. :)

Good song, and a nice tribute to Jim and Maury.
