Thank you fellow CUKErS for a wonderful afternoon. Despite some "sub-par" performances I think overall it was a great day! I know I had a great time.

My highlights include:

Kurt playing "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" I think I speak for all in attendance when I say WOW!

Chris and her trilogy of great Christmas tunes...I'm especially fond of the Hippo tune.:2santa1:

The other Chris for bringing his new Jenny Tenor Cutaway...I now have Uke envy and really need to pick one of those up.:2hip:

It was great seeing everyone again and also meeting folks new to the fold and hope to see the CUKES prosper in the new year. I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Blessed New Year:beer:

Pete

What Pete said!

It has been TOO LONG since I have made a CUKES meeting and I really enjoyed it yesterday.

Nice to meet Chris, Scott and Nate(?).  (I am terrible with names... even worse since being hit by a car...)

My hands were shaking so bad during "While My Guitar"...  I haven't been that nervous in a long time.

I sure hope I didn't offend Nate by handing his uke back for While My Guitar.  I didn't realize how much I need those dots when sliding up the neck.

I really loved Chris singing "Santa Baby".  Such a beautiful voice!  I have always wanted to be able to sing, but realize it is not meant to be.

Looking forward to the next meeting and the Jake concert!

Kurt

Hey everyone!  Nice to see you all again and a Big "welcome" to Nate!  Hope to get a chance to talk with you some next time.  You know, the dinner afterwards is really a great time to sit and get to know folks so please try to make those whenever you can!

Loved Kurt's rendition of "While my guitar..." - a nice preview of Jake's upcoming concert, which btw is on Friday, 2/10.  We could do Cukes that next day on Saturday, which would be fun to compare experiences of the concert....  Also, thanks Kurt for your comments, although singing in public is still a huge fear for me...

Always such a treat to have such a variety of ukes.  Chris, your new cutout is a bute!

Glad you all made it over to Music Explorium too - now you know where it is!

Hoping to make contact with Pinecone to see if they'll have a table at Jake's concert and if we might be able to add some flyers to advertise Cukes...

Well, have a uke of a x-mas and much health, joy & prosperity in the new year!

Chris K

PS-This song begins and ends on "F".  The C7 at the beginning is supposed to be at the end of the first line.  Here's a link to hear the actual tune:  http://sgor.hyperchat.com/newchat/u/yummy/~soe/hippoFAQ.htm

“I Want A Hippopotamus For Christmas!”

F                                                                                                       C7

I want a hippopotamus for Christmas, Only a hippopotamus will do!

                                                                     G7                                  C7

Don’t want a doll, no dinky Tinker Toy!  I want a hippopotamus to play with and enjoy.

F                                                                                                                           C7

I want a hippopotamus for Christmas, I don’t think Santa Claus will mind, do you?

He won’t have to use our dirty chimney flue,

       G7                                                                 C7

Just bring him through the front door, that’s the easy think to do!

F7                             Bb                             F7                          Bb

I can see me now on Christmas morning, creeping down the stairs.

C7                                                           F

Oh what joy and what surprise, when I open up my eyes

              G7              C7

To see a hippo hero standing there.

F                                                                                                      C7

I want a hippopotamus for Christmas, Only a hippopotamus will do!

                                                 G7             C7

No crocodiles or rhinoceroses, I only like hippopotamuses.

        G7            C7                  F

And hippopotamuses like me too!

C                                        F                              G7                                  C7

Mom say the hippo would eat me up, but then teaches says a hippo is a veg-e-ter-i-an!

C                                                 F

There’s lots of room for him in our two-car garage

      G7                                                           C7

I’d feed him there and wash him there and give him his massage!

         F7                     Bb                            F7                           Bb

I can see me now on Christmas morning, creeping down the stairs.

C7                                                           F

Oh what joy and what surprise, when I open up my eyes

              G7             C7

To see a hippo hero standing there.

F                                                                                                      C7

I want a hippopotamus for Christmas, Only a hippopotamus will do!

                                                  G7             C7

No crocodiles or rhinoceroses, I only like hippopotamuses.

        G7           C7                   F

And hippopotamuses like me too!

Linda and I enjoyed seeing everybody again too. The Music Explorium was really something. Look for me to start a new Nose Flute section on ezFolk.

Looking forward to the Jake concert. Say it's on Friday night Chris? We'll try to make it and then stay over for a Saturday meeting of the Cukes if you're able to plan a meeting. If not, we'll still try to make the concert.

:hat:

Like everyone else, I had a great time at the Cukes meeting and at dinner afterwards. Today I played back the songs we recorded and had to laugh! Such fun! Made my day/week/month!
Each and every one of you are wonderful, are such good musicians and are great sports. Nate, I hope we didn't scare you away and you will join us in February. Billie

Wow Guys! That was really fun! It was a great first time seeing other people play the ukulele! I will definately be coming back! (hopefully with a new Jenny Tenor) I also plan on being at the Jake concert. Cant wait.

Music Explorium was great, now I know where I can go locally to get Uke stuff.  By the way, I put Aquila Strings on my uke and it really made a difference.  Thanks Chris ( Jenny Tenor Chris ) for telling me to change the strings.

Well I will see you all next time!:D

Although, I'm not a member of the CUKES...I would like to personally thank you for sharing the “I Want A Hippopotamus For Christmas!” song.   I actually played it last weekend for my wife and she really loved it!  I guess it's true...Uke can change the world. Thanks again!  Hoping everyone has a prosperous year!  :)
