Chris,

Staying cool is durn near impossible at the present time.  Heat and humidity are getting too much for me.

I plan to be there, and hope the A/C is cranked up before we arrive.

I am also quite partial to Italian-style cooking.  Nice choice!

Any special songs to work on?  The only thing really new to me is sorta-kinda fingerpicking the refrain of "Mountain Greenery".

Joe :uke:

Chris... I'm hoping to make it but I not be able to because of my job, and I won't know until a day or two before then. :(

BTW... I updated the Cukes page so now this meeting is listed.

Hope you guys can make it, Richard.  It wouldn't be the same w/out you two!

Please use the link in my first post for directions as the one Richard has in the "events' section of the official Cukes page is mistakenly linking to Ideas! Coffee shop, rather than Westpark Corporate Center.

BTW, I finally got in touch with Lou and he'll be at the July meeting.   :bluelight:

Thanks,

Chris

PS - We'll miss you Jackie, but I'll look forward to seeing you the following weekend in Augusta.

Glad you'll make it Joe.  Hopefully we'll have cooler weather by then!  No special songs that I know of unless anyone posts them - please feel free!

Oops... I didn't realize the links were messed up. I think everything's right now. Chris, let me know if something's wrong.

Won't make this one:(.  I'll be on vacation visiting family in Chicago.  But I'll have a Chicago style Vienna hot dog (including the sport pepper) for you Chris!

I have relatives visiting that my kids and I haven't seen for years, so there is a good chance I will miss this meeting. Dang, had some new songs to "show off" this time too.

So it looks like me, Pete, Joe, Billie, and Richard & Kurt are maybe's????

BTW, the guard at Cato was very ill and recently returned to work.  His name is "Danny".  Any chance we could do "Danny Boy" for him?  Pete, you recorded that one on ezfolk, right?  Can you post the music for that and can we do a little rendition for him?

Chris

Here ya go...Sorry to hear he's been ill...can't say that this would be the most uplifting of tunes to do...but here it is nonetheless:

                C                                             F
Oh Danny boy, the pipes, the pipes are calling
                     C                                             G
From glen to glen, and down the mountain side
                      C                            F
The summer's gone, and all the roses falling
                     C                         G                     C
'Tis you must go, 'tis you must go and I must bide

        C                            F                        C
But come ye back when summer's in the meadow
                    Am        F                                    G
Or when the valley's hushed and white with snow
               C             F                    C          am
'Tis I'll be there in sunshine or in shadow
                C                     G                       C
Oh Danny boy, oh Danny boy, I love you so

But if you come, and all the flowers are dying
If I am dead, as dead I may well be
You'll come and find the place where I am lying
And kneel and say an "Ave" there for me

And I shall hear, tho' soft you tread above me
And all my grave shall warm and sweeter be
If you will bend and tell me that you love me
Then I will sleep in peace until you come to me

See you tomorrow!

Pete

Chris... sorry to say I can't make it this time. My son who works for me got married last Sunday, took off on his honeymoon to Key West, and left me to do all the work, which I'm now trying to dig out of. The good news though is that they had a mandatory evacuation from Key West because of the hurricane so he'll be back a couple of days early to help me out. Nevertheless, I'm still swamped so I won't make it. Hopefully next meeting everybody will be back.

Richard :2cry:

Chris,

Sorry to have missed yesterday's meeting.  Seems that now and then, regardless of my plans, "life" happens.  Hope all who made it had a wonderful time and a great Italian meal.

Joe   :(

We definately missed you Joe and others that weren't able to make it. It was a small group but I'd say we had a good time. I'm already looking forward to the next meeting!

Chris:

I don't know if you have the tabs (or know where I could locate them)  for the version of "Stars and Stripes Forever" that you did on Sat. in a digital format but if you do I'd love to get a copy of it. I've been toying around with what I could figure out and it seems like a real fun tune to play.

Pete

Yes, Joe, you were missed!!

Pete, I moved a couple weeks ago and things are still not right with my computer, otherwise I'd send you a scan of the tabs I have.  I'm heading out of town for a week (to Augusta!), so hopefully when I return I can get them to you.....

take care,

Chris

:D
