We have been enjoying a streak of fine weather in our neck of the woods, and, sure enough, what's that buzzing in my ears and eyes?  Blackflies! the bane of Springtime in New England,  (not to mention Downeast and Canada.)

I first saw this video from the National Film Board of Canada on LinkTV.  It so cracked me up that I had to google it up, so I could share it with you.

If any of you have ever experienced blackflies, you will smile with recognition at the torment our poor hero endures in this video.  If you've never experienced blackflies, believe me, this clever video interpretation of this catchy crazy 1949 song by Wade Hemsworth is no exaggeration:

Blackfly is a fantastic song.  I've covered it for years.  Both adults and children love it.

Hi, Sean,

Yes, it is.  I'll definitely be adding that one to my repertoire as well.

I saw Bill Staines perform it at the last Boston Folk Festival.  He had everyone sing along on the chorus.  We were all getting tongue-tied and cracking up.  It was great fun!

Hi, ezFolks,

I just became aware that it appears that YouTube has pulled the Blackfly video.  So I got a link to the NFB presentation of the video:
