It's true, Tim3finger, the B-1's bass player extrodinair and uke player, got an old beat up banjo yesterday. I know, because it's an old Harmony/Kay that I gave him. He was last spotted in the corner of our shop, head down in deep concentration...was that a forward roll I was a hearing:cool:?

Yeah, but get him away from that "roll" stuff! If he larns to clawhammer, think of the addition it can make to the group!

(besides, my tutorial is cheap!) ;)

I wouldn't call it the "Dark Side " necessarily, but it is a big departure for me from my comfort zone.

I thought I played a resonable rytyhm guitar, a respectable bari Uke, and I am learning to compose better and more flowing Bass lines, but banjo is a whole different world for me. I tuned it like a tenor guitar(Chicago tuning) and I thought, why not leave it in open G and learn to clawhammer.

You're right Brad, Dean already does a fantastic job of finger pickin and clawhammer would be a nice addition, and I won't have to unlearn any bass or guitar bad habits. Banjo would be a fresh new subject.

Don't expect any miraculous fast progress, but I'll probably be bugging you,Brad, and all you other clawhammer guys for tips in the future.

And that's why we're here!

Welcome to the bright side of banjo hell :2angdev:

(Your rythmn experience should help with the basic bum-ditty, clawhammer banjo is largely rythmic in nature)]
