I wanted to invite everyone to a page I've set up on the building of this:

There's a lot of photos so it may load a bit slow if you're on dial up.  To visit CLICK HERE.

I don't really know how to  play it yet, but that's what the EZFolk tutorials are for. Still I've posted a short clip of me faking it so the curious could here how it sounds:

play hi-bitrate (mp3) (broadband)
play lo-bitrate (mp3) (dial up)

Gerard

Gerald,   What a great job you did on this project,  You really put the time and energy into it,  I started a cookie tin banjo one time and started the cutting  on the tin and give it up because it was all warp out of shape and  I junked it.

It sounds good to and your playing sounds good also.

Thanks for the lessons on how to builted a banjo

Charlie

I really enjoyed the building page, and it sure sounds sweet! Thanks Gerard, someday, when I retire...that's the kind of project I'll be looking for. Very interesting design, especially the fine tuning tailpiece:)

Wow. Nice work on the banjo. And, thanks for putting together the page describing the process--much cooler than just a pic--we get to see the process.

I have never seen anything made with kite string, PVC pipe, and a cookie tin that looked (and sounded) that good (okay, I have never seen anything made with kite string, PVC pipe, and a cookie tin--it is still great work though).

Well done.

I built a deluxe cookie tin banjo too. I bought the frets, fretboard, tuners, and 8 inch drum head. The cookie tin can be seen in the 1st photo. It was a lot of fun to plan and build. Now all I need to do is learn how to play it. The EZ folk tutorials are great.

Doug
