I got the inexpensive version Cakewalk Music Creator 2 approx $40. Just beginning to learn how to work it.

I found you can actually combine several MP3 files into one which is pretty neat if you do several takes of one song, you can take out the boo boo's and replace with a good part without the mistakes. I still have to work on the timing better as it is hard to peice together something played in free form (no ticker).

Anyway just wondered if anyone else has explored this software and has any tips for Audio or Video (which I yet to explore). :screenpunch:

Thanks Holley

Holley I know not the program of which you speak, but I've heard of it.

This: http://www.cakewalkforum.com/forums/ should help.

Hope you enjoy the multi tracking experience. You play what I call abstract music and I can see you buying more instruments soon.

I decided I wanted a fiddle solo in La Vie En Rose because whistling and humming just didn't work. So I went and bought a violin. This song will be a year long project.

Cheers Hip.

You can find almost all the answers to any question at the Cakewalk forums.

I just recently bought Sonar 6 and like it very much. Don't know much about the version that you have though. But what you're describing above is called comping. Where you have two or three takes, then go through them and save the best of all of them. I do that quite a bit for my rock and new age guitar oriented stuff. Makes it ridiculously easy. :D

Never tried it with just solo acoustic guitar though. I like to keep the continuity going by recording the whole thing in one shot.

Hi Dick!

Thanks very much for the link! I will most certainly check it out.

The fiddle is not an easy instrument to learn so be patient. Good ear training and bowing technique really play a big part in learning. It is also an instrument that requires a passion to feel what you are playing.

Best wishes to you!

Holley

Hi Chris,

I have never heard your rock music you have to send me your link! I have one rock tune posted elsewhere not my usual style but I enjoy venturing out to different generes!

I been told it is easier to work with a ticker to punch in & out. But I prefer to play free form.

Thanks for the feedback!

Holley

All the rock pieces I have are sitting on the hard drive of my music computer. I only have two rock pieces that you could listen to on the internet. But they have no vocals on them yet. Though the lyrics are done.

I can't sing worth beans. That's why I'm always looking for singers to sing my songs. I've just been lucky to find some really great singers for my Donegal Street songs. Still looking for singers for that too.

Hi Chris,

If your rock tunes are as good as your acoustic playing I bet they are awesome!! I'm sure there are a lot of good singers out there and this would also be a good place to look for one too!

Holley

I have Sonar which is also made by Cakewalk. I assume they have similar options and controls, so if you have any questions feel free to ask. It's got some really cool features, atleast Sonar does.

It took me awhile, but I now absolutely love sonar.  It can do just about anything I want it to do.  I work a lot with MIDI and VSTs to create professional sounding songs, and am now getting into adding in live recording from piano and ukulele and guitar.  My own limitations is my computer which starts to chug after adding to many tracks.
