Last night we were delighted to attend a house concert featuring Amy Dixon-Kolar at the home of Mary and Randy Charles in Kennebunk, Maine.

Though I have known Amy through the ezFolk.com music site for a couple years, this was the first time I met her in person. It was more like seeing an old friend after a long time. Hugs and onversation came easily.

Amy's concert was a delight. Not only does she have an exceptional voice, but her musicianship is outstanding. Each song is a complete arrangement, as her guitar provides bassline, harmony, counterpoint, and call-and-response to her stirring vocals. She is expert at modulating volume and attack to give her music even more expresson and variety.

Amy started her set with Now it's Time, a song to which I personally relate:

The music never died
It was just buried alive
But now it's time for a resurrection
Now it's time

Next came Morning Quiet, a haunting gem that is a personal favourite.

Amy proceeded to delight us with a selection of widely varied offerings, including some blues, traditional songs, and covers, as well as her own superbly crafted originals. She ended her first set with her anthem to change and hope, Rosa Sat. In the tradition of Pete Seeger, she taught us the song and had us all singing along - a moving moment indeed!

Amy's concert was a real treat, as she demonstrated not only superb musicianship but also a great stage presence and a fine feel for entertaining her audience. We are blessed to have had her come to our area.

After the concert we had a little more conversation and hugs and posed for pictures. It was great to see my old friend!

Thank you, Amy, and thank you Mary and Randy.

Well lucky you Tony.  We tried to work out meeting whilst Amy was out this way but alas such was not to be.  Perhaps my bride and I will be lucky enough to have a visit on our way to see my daughter in Colorado come the Spring.

Hey Amy tell us about your latest Eastern US adventures.

All the best!

Peace,
Ed

I'm just sorry that I was not able to be there. It would be a joy to hear Amy live and to get to meet some fellow EZFolkers in person.

Late to the  party, as usual, but if envy was in my nature I'd be GREEN from head to toe.

AmyK is  another of my favorite EZfolkers.

Thanks for letting us join the party, even though it's by surrogate.

Why  does nearly everyone live  3000 to 10000 miles away?  The nixies hate me .:(

Dusty

I feel very fortunate, indeed, that Amy made this Northeastern concert tour which brought her to our area.

Maybe you could arrange for her to do a West Coast concert tour!?

First chance to get back on ezFolk. Three weeks away makes for a lot of catch up when getting back home!

It was such a blast meeting Tony in person! As he said in his wonderful review (thanks Tony - I may be quoting you!! :)), it really was like seeing old friends rather than meeting for the first time. Rather like finally meeting long-time pen pals.

I'm sorry it didn't work out to see you Ed. I ended up driving up through New Jersey and New York, so took a different route entirely. I'll be back out that way for sure, and we'll have to set something up then. Gary, next time I would like to check out some of the suggestions you made. Couldn't work them out for this time through, but next time! Maybe we can all meet somewhere in the middle for a great night of music and an ezFolk jam! Still hoping to meet Holley and Meg in Conn. too! And isn't Phil in New York?

Dusty - would love to head out your way. I have some folks in No. California who are asking me to come out as well. Hmmm - maybe something to work out for a future trip. Sunny California sounds nice! I lived in the LA area for six years, so I know other folks out that way.

Thanks again all - without ezFolk I might not have gotten to the point of being able to tour.

I'll be adding some more pics from the trip on my site.

Peace -
Amy

It would be neat to find a common place and maybe even have an EZFolk concert somewhere. Something to look forward to. :)
