Hi everyone,

Thought you might like to see some footage of a friend of mine playing the Baritone uke (a Samick model to those of you who may be wondering). His name is Tom Sampson and is a singer, uke (and guitar) player in Plymouth, England. He's been singing and playing on the local circuit since the 1970s:-)

He is a big fan of Crosby Stills and Nash, The Beatles, Neil Young, Eric Clapton, James Taylor to name a few. Tom has been teaching me uke and guitar for a couple of years now. There isn't a lot of Baritone uke music around on the net so I suggested filming some and he liked the idea. I hope you like them!

We filmed these clips a couple of weeks ago and they came out quite well. I'm finding them really useful for my uke practice as well.

Shews, I have the same baritone uke (the Samick) but my music doesn't come close to Tom's.  Enjoyed the videos very much.  I also have a 1960's Regal baritone but I really covet that Gibson he is playing.

Thank, Preston

Hello shewbrookj,

I really enjoyed listening and watching your friend play. The strumming was great, the vocal was sincere and the footwork...well...was footwork. :)

Isn't it great to see the fun people can have playing the uke. The more I hear different people (and myself) playing it, I realize it really is a very versatile instrument.

hey, thats what I like! I'm a life long Beatles fan, always trying to play it on different intruments: spent a coulple of years transposing to banjo, mando etc.  Never thought of uke tenor.  Have spent a couple of hours on soprano uke tonight and there are some useful Beatles stuff I think sound great on uke, you inspire me.  You can contact me on 01752 299851 if you would like to discuss stuff.  I have a few intruments, love to meet people who play.

I have a Gibson Baritone uke that I purchased in a pawn shop in Denver in 1965. It has been rebuilt twice (my fault) and sounds great! This is the only other uke of this type I have seen. Sound just like mine, and I love it.
