Are any of the 4 Worth BB Brown Baritone strings wound metal.  I'd like a set that has no wound metal strings if there is such a thing.

This is the information I found at the Worth Strings web site, regarding their baritone uke strings:

http://worthstrings.com/dist/home.php?cat=8

Their web page for baritone strings mentions that "there are no wound strings" in the clear fluorocarbon sets, but fails to mention that for the brown string sets.  Maybe you should contact them through their web form to clarify:

Thanks, Will, for that information and the Links.  I'll write to them and if I get an answer I'll let you know what they say.

I tried Worth strings on two of my baritone ukes and wasn't very pleased. It's not that they didn't sound good. It was that the low D 4th string was so floppy that it was buzzing on the frets. I would have had to set the action way too high for my taste if I wanted to keep them. This was true for both the Brown set as well as the Clear.

Worth does offer a set of baritone strings with an "extra hard 4th" that is supposed to alleviate the floppy issue. But I haven't tried them myself. I've seen that set available at ukuleleworld2.com.

I definitely agree with Swirl, Worth low D is much too sloppy, barely playable and much too quiet. The C string is playable but lacks a bit of tension.
On the other hand the B and E strings fits quite well, and the reentrant set (with a high D, dGBe) does a nice job if you like a reentrant tuning on the barytone.

For my low D tuned barytone, I personnally use the Worth B and E strings, and the Martin barytone strings for D and G - makes a lot of spare strings.

My wife, Holly uke, has an amigo that we put Woth strings on. We just love them. The wound strings always hurt her fingers. The clear Worths work great for us. They seem a little " brighter" than the origanl wound strings that came on it, But still sound really good to us. I should note that we are beginners, and don't play any other instruments. But We know what we like.

I also tried Worth strings, and found that "D" string was floppy and caused poor sound quality. Have gone back to using wound strings on both "D" and "G".
