Folks,

Some time ago I bought a baritone ukulele. It is a Lanikai and the label inside says model K-B, nothing else. Anyone have any idea what model this is and what it worth?

Eric

The Lanikai K-B baritone is from an earlier (since discontinued) series of laminated koa ukuleles.  In 2003, I bought the tenor model from that series for about $150. "K" stands for "koa" (it's only a veneer laminated to mahogany), and "B" stands for baritone.  I think the baritone sold for about $180 to $200.

The "controversy" of the day was that the K-series called their laminate "Koa," but it was actually Zebrawood or something like that. In any case, they reissued the series under the moniker "CK" which was a true Koa laminate.

Either way, they sure were/are pretty looking for what they were/are (plywood).

Funny, huh?
