Tuning a mandolin like uke does not appear practical as stated in another post. I know there are extra light mandolin strings for "fragile" instruments. I wonder if light, or extra light mandolin strings will work on a well made uke to make it sound more like a mandolin? Perhaps the Applause UAE 148

I don't think so, I would be afraid to try that, The E strings really get tight on a mandolin and easy to break even on a mandolin. If you do try it, Let us know how it works Charlie
