Folks,

Can you use steel strings on a baritone ukulele? I'd like to try some blues. If not, should I just buy a tenor guitar?

You can play the blues on a nylon stringed instrument.

Putting steel strings on an instrument designed for nylon will likely pull the bridge loose/off and/or pull the neck loose.

I wouldn't use steel strings. Even if there weren't an immediate issue, one would probably develop down the road.

Your instinct is right: a tenor guitar is braced & built properly for steel strings.

That instrument was built for steel strings, But don,t try your ukulele with steel as stated before, It would do some damage

There are some tenor guitars out there if you want steel strings, I had a baby tenor from the ebay site once that played good and it was the size of a baritone ukulele. I can't think of the name , But look on ebay for tenor guitars
