As a new autoharp player, I have just purchased a used 15-chord chromaharp in excellent condition. If I should ever decide to upgrade it to a 21-chord layout, are there places where I can get a 21-chord upgrade kit specifically for a Chromaharp? Or will a 21-chord kit for an OS work alright on a chromaharp? I have "googled" this subject and have found little to no information regarding an answer to this specific question. Thank you for your help. Jeff Last edited on Sat Sep 12th, 2009 07:58 pm by fstpicker |

Jeff: I'm afraid no such chord conversion kit exists for ChromaHarps. Oscar Schmidt and Rhythm Band instruments are of different designs and dimensions, and they do not share much in the way of interchangeable parts. It might be possible to retrofit a complete Oscar Schmidt 21-chord bar mechanism on a ChromaHarp, but I'm not sure whether it will fit properly or not, so you may be taking a risk. A new 21-chord ChromaHarp sells for about $200, and and the solid spruce top Oscar Schmidt OS73C sells for $280.

I was afraid of that. Thanks for responding! I'll just be satisfied with what I have and enjoy it then, as I only paid $39 total for it including shipping. If I should need more chords, I'll purchase another one with them already installed. Jeff Last edited on Mon Sep 14th, 2009 07:52 pm by fstpicker |
