Hello!, my name is Fernando and im from Argentina (country in South America for people that don't know). My english is not good, but I will make an efford haha.
So, I go to the point. I decided to buy an Erhu but in my country aren't sell. Obviously the only option I have is buy in an online store (ebay or a instruments store in other countrys).
Anyway, I have been searching out for a while in the web and discovered some items that I selected (without any knowledge about erhus of course, haha), and there is the links:
Item 1: http://cgi.ebay.com/PROMOTION-DUNHUANG-Chinese-2-Strings-QUALITY-Erhu-set_W0QQitemZ370275314292QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item563620ea74
Item 2: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260488785869&fromMakeTrack=true&ssPageName=VIP:watchlink:top:en
Item 3:http://cgi.ebay.com/New-high-quality-Wooded-Erhu-Chinese-Violin_W0QQitemZ280405282141QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item4149750d5d
Item 4: http://www.eason.com.sg/products/erhu/heh6.jsp

ok, the point of this topic is that the people, who maybe has bought some of these erhus, comment me if are good to start with any of them to play this amazing instrument.
Thanks!!

Welcome to the forum, Fernando. The erhus you list are all budget/beginner models. I have ordered plenty of instruments and supplies from Eason, but nothing from the other vendors. I recommend contacting Sung Wah at Eason directly and asking him for recommendations based on your budget.

Best wishes,

Have you asked? Sung Wah is responsive to emails, and in my experience a dependable businessman. I am sure that if you have not received an order it is not because Eason did not want to send it to you.

Best wishes,

David

I totally agree with David.

I bought supplies a couple time from Eason. Quality is good. Reasonable price. Fast shipping. Once I got trouble with lost in delivery but it was the courrier. Not Eason. However, Eason shipped the replacement immediately to me.

Thanks again, Sung Wah.

Fernando, let me share with you a recent experience, where I went through a painful ($) experience of having to writeoff an earlier purchase in order to buy a better erhu.

While budget is important, my point is that please don;t just let budget dictates your choice. As a beginner, a bad erhu can actually spoil your learning pleasure and even learning itself. While a mediocre erhu can sound great in an expert's hand, the same erhu may retard/slow learning for beginners.

Perhaps, you may want to consider stretching your budget (where possible) and consider those in the next range up.

By the way, I similarly agree with the previous posts about Sung Wah/Eason. He recently recommended me an erhu that makes me have fun while I learn. The previous erhu I had (albeit much cheaper) was much more difficult to get a good/clean note - I think it is called responsiveness. That in turn makes learning difficult.

Good luck!

KG.....you're getting people worried here.  They might think I took your money and did not send the goods.  But in actual fact, we have not decide on how to make payment!  We could do some barter trade here.  You send me some of your tau sar piah (local biscuits) and I'll send you the CD.

SW

Sw...sure... but Tau sa Piah is from Penang. Whe my SHanghai Angels perform up there on 5th Dec...I'll buy you the best from Penang and post to you. Ya?

Yes...good idea to barter. Easier this way. Now for business: I need a set of Erquan Strings. Pls tell me the price.

Thanks for all your compliments people.  I'll strive to do even better.

Thanks,
SW
