(I probably should have posted here first before swamping the ukulele sections with my comments...)
Signing in from a small town about 2 hours north of Toronto, nestled on the south shore of Georgian Bay, a metaphorical stone's throw from the ski hills of Blue Mountain and the world's longest freshwater beach of Wasaga Beach. Five minutes' drive (or better yet, motorcycle ride) puts me into the farmlands and hills surrounding my town. Clean air, clean water, and very few traffic jams (we moved here from the City almost 20 years ago).
Played guitar for more than four decades, merely adequately at best although with passion that exceeds my talent. Tinkered with sitar, bass, mandolin, dulcimer, Strumstick, harmonica, keyboards, charango, and of late ukulele (easily my favourite). I'm always learning. I had given up on playing music a couple of years ago and sold my instruments, but my wife (who understands me well in so many ways) recognized the need and last year got me a beautiful Takamine guitar. That started the whole thing all over again.
I'm a sometime writer, a graphic designer, an editor, a municipal politician, curmudgeon, and tequila and hot sauce aficionado. My interests include chess, Shakespeare, blues, Buddhism, politics, history, film noir, music (of course...), science fiction, Darwin (the evolutionist, not the city), virology, language, wine making, Web design, Mexico, Napoleonic wargames, paleontology and a whole lot more. I run my own forum and website when I'm not practicing my ukulele. In between I also run a small retail business (when it doesn't interfere with my interests and passions).
I hope I can contribute something of value to this forum. I've certainly enjoyed reading the posts from others and have already learned from them.
Cheers
