All ezFolk MP3 artists can now upload videos to their MP3 page! There are a few things to watch out for (I'll list them below) but generally it's the same as uploading MP3s.

I've added some to my page so you can get an idea what it will look like. My videos are just the clawhammer demonstrations that I did recently and also a demonstration of how I play Shady Grove on the uke. They're all pretty simple so don't get excited. I'm just trying to figure out the video thing myself. Here's a link to my page if you'd like to take a look...

Here are the things you need to know if you'd like to upload your videos...

There is a limit of 5 videos per artist. This might change in the future but right now I thought it might be best since videos are larger than MP3s so we don't crash the server.

Videos must be in the WMV (Windows Media Video) format. If yours are in some other format you'll need to convert them before uploading.

There is a limit of 100 Megabytes per artist.

In order for your videos to show up on your page you must use the new "MerseyGator 2.0" theme. It's easy to switch themes from your admin panel and if you don't like it you can go back to your old theme, but the videos won't show up. I'll be adding a link to the videos chart soon so your videos will be listed there. The MerseyGator theme is a 1-page theme that has everything listed (MP3s, videos, store, photos, messages, etc.). I'm going to try to get it customized for ezFolk soon but it works fine as it is.

If you're using the MerseyGator theme, pay attention to the artist picture. It's 450x150 pixels and will make a mess of most artist pics. If you can adjust you picture to fit that's great, but if not, I'll be glad to email you some generic pictures that will fit in or just let me know and I'll plug it in for you myself.

That's all I can think of for the moment. Feel free to add any questions or comments to this thread.

Hey Richard

Thanks for all the work you put into this site to help make us all better players.  This theme looks far superior to the one that has the embedded mp3 players (and far less time to load).  I like how all of the "tabs" appear as subheadings on the page, so you immediatly know if someone has something for sale, photos, or radio to listen to.  Good work my friend.

So my question is for people with macs:

Can iMovie convert to wmv format?

What is the best (free) program to convert quicktime or .avi files to wmv?

Thanks again

-guat:farmer:

Hey guat,

I'm not sure about converting the Mac files over to WMV but surely it can be done. Maybe one of the other Mac people will know and will share the info.

Glad you like the new theme. I like the 1-page format too. I'm hoping to get it customized just a bit more for ezFolk.

I just recorded a new Christmas video... "Away in a Manger" played on baritone uke. It's on my MP3 page...

Wow Richard, this is just simply amazing with this new Video Feature, great job man !:clap:You never cease to amaze me. I gotta figure out a way now to get this mug in action, Heh-Heh !

Again, congratulations on producing the BEST web-site on the internet and affording artists the opportunity to showcase their music to the masses in "live action".

 Thank You :thumbs1:

Richard-

Good work! This theme looks promising; clean and professional without too many links.
:hat:

Is that the artist picture beside the "details" line?

Now, my only nitpick (you knew that was coming ;) ) is that the screen size is too large for my monitor. I have to side scroll to see the entire width. Just a nit, so don't worry about it.

:2banjo: Keep on pickin'
Brad

ps. Who is your pro videoist? That's a great background on "Manger".

Thanks for the nice words Sheamrock... I'll be looking forward to your videos as this thing progresses, as well as everybody else who will take the time to make some videos. I think it'll be great as we get a lot of good vids for people to watch.

Brad, you're welcome to post any videos of yours that you would like to and direct people to your site for tabs or whatever.

Sorry about the screen being too wide for your monitor. What's your resolution... 800x600? When I first started ezFolk in early 2000 the common thing was to design pages for 640x480. Then a couple years later 800x600 became normal. Most pages on ezFolk are still 800x600 but I read the other day that at least 75% of Internet users now view it at a resolution of at least 1024x768, so I'll be gradually widening things a little at a time.

Brad, glad you liked my background on Away in a Manger. I'm playing around with chroma key effects against a green screen. Most of the video editors can do that these days but it takes some experimentation. It's a lot of fun as well as aggravating as heck.

Yeah,

800x600 - any smaller (larger?) and I can't read the screen without a magnifying glass!
(It's he** to get old, and I'm still looking for a "senior moment" emoticon! The closest I've found so far is :2gramps: , but that doesn't really say it all)

:2banjo: Keep on pickin'

Great job on this Richard, what a great way to put a face on people in the forums.

I didn't notice you make mention of not being able to post copyrighted songs and i can only assume that video falls under the same rules and regulations as audio peices.

again really cool feature. the whole site is really quite comprehensive now... i can't think of anything else anybody could ever want out of it? And it's still a free site!!!:talk:

thanks again
