Dry And Dusty

Dry And Dusty

What with the weather beginning to change, and the dry and the dusty more apt to start appearing, I recorded this Texas fiddle tune this morning.  Added the banjo and guitar backup, and discovered while doing so that I need work on my timing on the fiddle.

But, enjoy the tune anyway, if you dare.

Frosty Morning with a Morning Flower

I've added 2 tunes to my music page,

"Frosty Morning" from Henry Reed, done on my fretless mountain banjo, and a little fiddle tune from Wilson Douglas, "Morning Flower."

Magpie (was Jay Bird)

Magpie Jay Bird

A little clawhammer banjo ditty for your enjoyment has been posted to my music page.  This one is lots of fun and can be a real trance tune in a jam.

Note: A little edit here, I had a senior moment for a few hours starting with when I recorded the tune.  Its actual name is "Magpie."

New Tune: Peek A Boo Waltz

I've been making progress on my journey to learn the fiddle. This is an attempt to mark my progress on it and on integrating my clawhammer banjo and OT Guitar back-up.

I recorded the guitar first, then a fiddle track, then banjo.  I then re-did the fiddle track and decided to quit at that point.

Not some of my best work, but not too bad, either, for a  beginning fiddler ((I've only been at the instrument off and on since 2003).

More Music From Banjo Brad

I've managed to get 5 more songs/tunes/pieces up on my music page.

Hole In The Bucket is a party song I picked up off of a Pete Seeger CD.

Ländler & Caprice is a medley of 2 classical guitar short etudes.

Blue Uke Waltz is a little ditty I worked out on my soprano uke on warm afternoon sitting on the patio.

The Fox is an old folk song I sang as a boy. It was brought back to mind when I heard a version of it on the "High Atmosphere" CD.

And, finally. Talkin' Ortega Dining Commons Blues was something I wrote while I was in college and the Great Folk Scare of the  '60s was happening.

Enjoy. Or not.

Spanish Fandango

I've added a video of "Spanish Fandango" to my Youtube page:

Spanish Fandango

I'm playing my Martin 000-15S Mahogany guitar in an open D tuning (DADF#AD), which I've recently started to use.

Old Bangum

I have recently uploaded a new song to my webpage.

Old Bangum

The song is  sometimes known as "Wild Hog In the Woods" with instrumental accompaniment and slightly different words.

This version is acapella and based on the version I heard on Mike and Peggy Seeger's CD "Fly Down Little Bird."

Anyway, I hope you enjoy it. Or not.

UPDATE: I have also posted this  song on my Artist Page.
