Musical Musings

It occured to me that a song must live.A trapped song becomes stagnant, stale , unable to escape that moment it was laid down. The song  that lives is constant motion, sometime better, sometimes not, and never the same. These songs are the offerings of a moment that we captured for display, to share, gifts that hopefully someone will feel the heart in which it was given. To bring the listener a smile, a tear, a thought. Each song unique in the particular moment that it was captured. EZ was a blessing of sorts for me, a new understanding of the dynamics of artistic endeavors. I've worked many a job, never as a musician. Music was a kinda thearpy for me. When in the mood I'd pick up my guitar and play my heart out. Then I put my guitar away. But i always played. Then about two years ago i could no longer put my guitar away. I started to write and perform and found great comfort in it. All that's left is to free my songs.

Thank You Richard and my EZ Friends

Thank You Richard and my EZ Friends

My Thanks! To Richard and all of my friends at EZ Folk, firstly for the friendship that you have shown since I rejoined last year. and for recognising Cornish as a genre.

Our music goes back some 4000 years when we traded Tin with the phonecians, we then became a druid community, the druids were great story tellers or bards.

I am proud to have been joined in this genre by Jim Wearne himself a Cornish bard, and I hope in the coming weeks that we will be joined by a huge diversity of Cornish musicians.

If you put Cornish History into a search engine, you will find that we are the 4th celtic nation. we have been kept a secret, but we are still here with our own language and culture.

Please keep visiting this genre, and as it grows I hope you will find some exciting new musicians and sounds.

To celebrate I have written a new song "The Lungs of the Mine" after 4000 years, our last mine has closed . we hope that one day, The cornish miner "Cousin Jack" will return to our shores

Merastawhy (Thank You)

Greg

Magpie (was Jay Bird)

Magpie Jay Bird

A little clawhammer banjo ditty for your enjoyment has been posted to my music page.  This one is lots of fun and can be a real trance tune in a jam.

Note: A little edit here, I had a senior moment for a few hours starting with when I recorded the tune.  Its actual name is "Magpie."

More songs!

Added a couple more tunes 'Lady Luck' and 'Beauty Queen' - the latter is a re-write of a tune from a few years ago (posted at the old ezFolk) and was the song that got this album going...needed a tune to practice my uke chords with!
