John Fogerty wrote “Proud Mary” in 1968 and it went to #2 on the US Billboard Hot 100 for his band, Creedence Clearwater Revival in 1969, then went as high as #4 for Ike and Tina Turner in their cover version in 1971. Elvis Presley started including it in his live shows beginning in 1970.
