Annie’s Song — Fingerstyle

“Annie’s Song” is a love song by John Denver, released in 1974 on his album Back Home Again. Written for his then-wife Annie Martell, the song is a heartfelt expression of deep love and admiration. Denver famously wrote it in just ten minutes while riding a ski lift in Aspen, Colorado. The lyrics compare his love to the beauty of nature, using vivid imagery such as mountains, rain, and the thrill of a storm. The song became one of Denver’s most iconic hits, reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and solidifying his status as a leading folk and country artist.

It’s in 3/4 time, and I played Pattern #13 from my Fingerstyle Ukulele Tutorial throughout the song. There are a lot of chord changes, so you might find it quite a bit easier to strum it instead of fingerpicking, and a nice, easy 3/4 strum sounds good on this song.
