Amazing Grace — Fingerstyle with Tablature

I recorded this many years ago when I was trying to figure out how to make my videos, so it’s different than most of my newer videos.

Below are three different tablatures, each preceded by an explanation of what it shows. If you need help understanding the tablature, watch my video on “How to Read Tablature.”

The first arrangement contains two lines of tablature. The top line is the melody, the notes I’m singing in the song. Playing those notes on your ukulele would be great practice since you are probably familiar with the music. Below the melody is the accompaniment, which I’m playing on the ukulele as I sing. As always, you don’t need to play exactly what I’m playing. You can do just as well by strumming instead of picking individual notes. Remember that the song is in 3/4 time, so if you’re strumming, there are three beats in each measure, like 1-2-3-1-2-3.

The second arrangement is the fingerpicking solo that I played at the beginning of the video. It’s not too difficult and would be a good intro to fingerstyle picking.

The final arrangement is an easy chord solo. It’s not included in the recording but is also easy to play.
