One of Ricky Nelson’s big hits, from 1958. I included two versions in this video, fingerstyle followed by a strumming example.
Ricky Nelson (1940–1985) was an American singer, songwriter, and actor, widely recognized as one of the first teen idols of the rock and roll era. He gained fame as a child actor on his family’s sitcom, The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet, where he also launched his music career. With hits like Hello Mary Lou, Travelin’ Man, and Poor Little Fool, Nelson became one of the best-selling artists of the late 1950s and early 1960s. His music blended rockabilly, pop, and country influences, and he later transitioned into country rock. Nelson continued performing until his tragic death in a plane crash in 1985. His legacy endures as a pioneer of early rock and roll and country rock.
